Daniel developed Vitiligo at the same time when
he developed his worst autistic symptoms. If was just
heartbreaking to watch him go through so much in such a short period of time.
The Vitiligo was the sign that some terribly wrong was happening to Daniel.
Modern medicine states that Vitiligo has no known cause or cure, just
like autism.
Vitiligo is an autoimmune
and inflammatory disease just like Lupus, Ezcema
and many other autoimmune diseases. Daniel
was diagnosed with Vitiligo by two different
dermatologists. Both dermalogists
prescribed
Protopic
which is a cream
that helps reduce inflammation and supresses the
immune system. Below are a few pictures
that we took of Daniel's vitilgo areas in his
skin. Daniel also developed Vitiligo in several areas where
he got scrapes, for example his legs and elbows
that also had Vitiligo. We never used the
Protopic because the dermatologists told us that
some people have developed cancer when using this
medication.
Once we started
treating Daniel's immune system, viral
infections and the inflammation, his
autistic symptoms started to become milder and
to our surprise the Vitiligo spots started
clearing. The more the Vitiligo
spots cleared the milder the autistic behaviors
became. At the same time that the Vitiligo
started clearing, Daniel's immune panel lab
tests showed that his immune system was starting
become more regulated. Once the
autoimmunity markers started to be in within the
normal range the Vitiligo continued to improve
at a very fast pace.
Today, the Vitiligo
areas where he got scrapes are 100% cured and
the original Vitiligo spot for which I posted
the pictures below is around 98% cured. Not
bad for a disease that has no cure!
What is vitiligo?
Vitiligo is a
pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes
(the cells that make pigment) in the skin are
destroyed. As a result, white patches appear on
the skin in different parts of the body.
The most
widely accepted view is that the depigmentation
occurs because vitiligo is an autoimmune disease
-- a disease in which a person's immune system
reacts against the body's own organs or tissues.
Cause
Autoimmune and
cytotoxic hypotheses: Aberration of
immune surveillance results in melanocyte
dysfunction or destruction.
Vitiligo, Lupus and Michael
Jackson In 1986
Michael Jackson was diagnosed with Vitiligo and
Lupus. Vitiligo is a pigmentation
disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that
make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. Lupus
is an auto-immune and inflammatory disease which
attacks healthy cells, tissues and organs and
can be fatal. In the 1993 Oprah Winfrey
interview with Jackson he finally admitted to
having this illness to debunk the ‘skin
bleaching’ rumors.
Vitiligo is
associated with autoimmune and inflammatory
diseases like Lupus and Addison’s. Lupus
can cause inflammation of the heart, lungs,
joints and many, like Jackson, experience
pneumonia and cardiac manifestations and
anemia. Extreme fatigue and joint pain are
common with Lupus. Although it seemed odd
years ago, Michael wearing a mask was wise.
He came into contact with millions of
people, each one a risk to his health when
living with Lupus.
There is no cure for Vitiligo, nor is there a
cure for Lupus
Treatment recommended by dermatologists -
Protopic
Protopic and
Elidel are two medications used to treat
eczema that are classified as calcineurin
inhibitors. Calcineurin is a chemical involved
in the inflammation process, so blocking that
chemical reduces inflammation.
The calcineurin
inhibitors change some of the functions of the
immune system that specifically cause the rash
of eczema, but don't suppress the whole
immune system. They are chemically related to
the oral medication
cyclosporine, which can be used to treat
psoriasis.
