DANIEL'S AUTISTIC SYMPTOMS
DANIEL'S AUTISTIC SYMPTOMS

Daniel had severe "autistic symptoms" when he was 2 1/2 years old.

"Autistic symptoms" and other problems Daniel developed when he became medically ill.

  1. He used to be a roller coaster of emotions, very inconsistent, mostly bad, to the point of being a depressed toddler

  2. He used to make humming noises with his mouth

  3. He never used to point at objects

  4. He didn't understand the concept of questions.  He used to repeat the questions he was asked back to people.

  5. Suffered from severe speech impairments

  6. He spun in circles

  7. He flipped toys and looked at them with his peripheral vision

  8. Looked obsessively at anything that had lines

  9. Flipped his eyes to the back until the only part of his eyes people could see were the white parts

  10. Suffered from severe echolalia

  11. Constant tantrums and crying events specially in restaurants and grocery stores

  12. He was extremely impatient

  13. He was very spacey, in his own world

  14. Suffered from Vitiligo.

  15. Had an obsession lining up toys or any object

  16. He used to put his head in the floor and look at the wheels in his toy cars

  17. He used to roam around fences at home in the backyard, his preschool or playgrounds

  18. He suffered from anxiety because he didn't know how to play with toys.

  19. He used to avoid children in the playgrounds or parties.

  20. He used to play alone all the time.

  21. Once he found a toy he like (not meaning he know how to play with it), he wanted to have that toy all the time.

  22. Talking to him was like talking to the wall

  23. He used to bang his head against the doors

  24. He used to shake his head to the point we thought he could get hurt

  25. He used to hit other children for no apparent reason

  26. He walked aimlessly

  27. Was not potty trained, didn't care about going to the potty and used to even do it in his pants and didn't seem even to notice that he was dirty.

  28. Completely lost the great appetite he once had and became a very picky eater.  He didn't seem to enjoy food anymore.

  29. Lost eye contact

  30. Ran away from us in the stores and didn't even looked back.

  31. Developed food allergies

  32. Lost muscle tone

  33. When he used to get sick from the flu or bacterial infections he used to get more ill than the typical child.

  34. He used to put many objects in his mouth.  From toys inside the house, to rocks in the park and wood chips in the playgrounds.
